An exclusive passage has been inaugurated on 17.01.2022, for the convenience for passengers in Chennai Airport Domestic Terminal, from security Hold Area (SHA) to Level-4 (basement).

चेन्नई हवाई अड्डा: चेन्नई हवाई अड्डे के घरेलू टर्मिनल में यात्रियों की सुविधा के लिए दिनांक 17.01.2022 को सुरक्षा होल्ड एरिया (एस.एच.ए) से लेवल -4 (तलघर) तक रीयूनियन बैगेज यात्री को बैगेज की पुन: जॅाच के लिए बुलाया गया जिसके लिए एक विशेष मार्ग का उद्घाटन किया गया है । यात्री की उपस्थिति में सामान से आपत्तिजनक/प्रतिबंधित वस्तुओं को हटाने के लिए। नई सुविधा यह सुनिश्चित करेगी कि चेन्नई हवाई अड्डे से उड़ान भरने वाले यात्रियों को उनके होल्ड बैगेज (चेक-इन/पंजीकृत सामान) में आपत्तिजनक/प्रतिबंधित वस्तुओं के मामले में लंबे समय तक प्रतीक्षा करने की आवश्यकता नहीं है।

वर्तमान में, यात्रियों को, जिन्हें लेवल -4 पर बैगेज के री-यूनियन के लिए बुलाया जाता है, उन्हें अंतरदेशीय सुरक्षा होल्‍ह क्षेत्र (SHA) से चेक-इन एरिया (SHA के बाहर) पर स्थित लिफ्ट में संबंधित एयरलाइन सुरक्षा कर्मचारियों द्वारा ले जाया जाता है, जिससे अधिक समय लगता है और एक बार फिर से तलाशी प्रक्रिया से गुजरने के बाद यात्रियों को एसएचए वापस जाने में असुविधा होती है।

नए मार्ग की स्थापना के साथ, यात्रियों को गैर-प्रतिबंधित क्षेत्र के माध्यम से घुमावदार मार्ग से बचने के लिए एयरलाइन एस्कॉर्ट के तहत एक समर्पित लिफ्ट के माध्यम से सीधे घरेलू एसएचए से स्तर 4 तक ले जाया जाएगा। इस तरह के मार्ग का अतिरिक्त लाभ यह है कि विशिष्ट यात्री अन्य यात्रियों/आगंतुकों के साथ नहीं मिल पाएगा क्योंकि गमनागमन समर्पित लिफ्ट के माध्यम से होता है जो एसएचए में पूरी तरह से सुरक्षित है और पूरी तरह से सुरक्षित स्तर 4 में खुलता है। गैर-प्रतिबंधित क्षेत्र (नॉन स्‍ट्रेराइल क्षेत्र) से गुजरने वाले वर्तमान लंबे मार्ग को लेने में देरी के कारण कोई भी यात्री उड़ान नहीं भरता है और इसलिए उसे फिर से जांच की आवश्यकता होती है। यात्री की आवाजाही केवल SHA (पहली मंजिल में) और स्तर 4 (तलघर में) में सुरक्षित क्षेत्रों के भीतर है, यात्री सुविधा को बढ़ाता है और संदिग्ध सामान की दोबारा जांच के लिए बुलाए जाने पर दोहरी स्क्रीनिंग की आवश्यकता समाप्त हो जाती है।

यात्री के री-यूनियन/बैगेज की जांच के बाद वापस लौटने पर फ्रिस्किंग प्रक्रियाओं को पूरा करने के लिए लेवल -4 पर समर्पित फ्रिस्किंग इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर प्रदान किया जाता है।

Chennai Airport: An exclusive passage has been inaugurated on 17.01.2022, for the convenience for passengers in Chennai Airport Domestic Terminal, from security Hold Area (SHA) to Level-4 (basement) for re-union of baggage’s (passenger called for rechecking of doubtful baggage) for removal of objectionable/ restricted items from baggage in passenger’s presence. The new facility will ensure that passengers flying from Chennai Airport needn’t wait for long, in case of objectionable/restricted items detected in their hold baggage (check-in/registered baggage).

Presently, the passengers, who are called for re-union of baggage’s at Level-4 are brought from the Domestic Security Hold Area (SHA) to the elevator positioned at check -in area (outside the SHA) escorted by concerned airline security staff, which consumes more time and creates inconvenience for passenger to go back to SHA after undergoing frisking procedures once again.

With the establishment of new passage, passengers will be taken from Domestic SHA to Level 4 directly through a dedicated lift under airline escort avoiding circuitous route through non-restricted area. The additional advantage of such a route is that the specific passenger will not be mixing with other passengers/visitors since movement is through the dedicated lift which is fully secured in the SHA and opens into the fully secured Level 4. This also avoids the possibility of any passenger missing the flights due to delay in taking the present longer route, passing through non-restricted area (non-sterile area) and therefore require rescreening. The passenger movement is only within secured areas in SHA (in the First Floor) and Level 4 (in the Basement) augurs passenger convenience and the need for dual screening is eliminated when called for rechecking of doubtful baggage.

Dedicated frisking infrastructure is provided at Level-4 to carry out the frisking procedures on return of the passenger after re-union/checking of baggage.
