ANTI HIJACK MOCK EXERCISE & AERODROME COMMITTEE MEETING AT CHENNAI AIRPORT

Chennai International Airport, 30th July, 2024 - The Anti Hijacking Mock Exercise for the year 2024 was conducted at Chennai Airport on 30.07.2024. Followed by the Mock Exercise, the 2nd Aerodrome Committee Meeting was convened. Tmt. J. Anne Mary Swarna, IAS, Joint Secretary to Government. Home Prohibition and Excise Department chaired the mock exercise and the Aerodrome Committee meeting.

The Chennai Airport stake holders and officials of various security agencies participated in the meeting.

Anti-Hijacking Mock Exercise is being conducted in all the airports in the country once a year with an aim to familiarise with the standard operating procedures to be adopted by various stake holders in the event of an aircraft being hijacked and check the efficacy and their preparedness to handle such eventuality. Various drills were conducted as per laid down procedures. Observations made by the Independent Observers of the exercise was also noted. Corrective measures will be incorporated with the standard operating procedures of the Anti-Hijacking Mock Exercise in future.
