Title:
Rupsi Airport

Rupsi Airport is a domestic airport located in the Indian state of Assam. It is situated in Rupsi village in the Kokrajhar district of Assam, which is how it got its name. The airport serves as an important transportation hub for nearby regions such as Gauripur, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Golakganj, Bongaigaon, and Gossaigaon.

Although Rupsi is a small airport, its history is both glorious and significant. The site where the airport stands today once hosted a military airstrip during World War II. This airstrip was established by the British, used by American forces, and played a crucial role in the China-Burma-India theatre of operations.

The airport currently provides air connectivity to Guwahati, the largest city in Assam and the entire northeastern region, and Kolkata. The airport is equipped with an air traffic control system that ensures safe landings and take-offs. The runway at Rupsi Airport is 1,771 meters long.

Near Rupsi, the Dhubri–Phulbari Bridge over the Brahmaputra River is under construction. This bridge will play a vital role in connecting Dhubri in Assam with Phulbari in Meghalaya. Once completed, it will be the longest river bridge in India, with an estimated length of 19.3 kilometers. Additionally, the Matiabaug Royal Palace built by the royal family of Gauripur on the banks of the Gadadhar River is another important historical landmark in the region.

About 70 kilometers from Rupsi lies Raimona National Park, which offers tourists a wonderful opportunity to experience nature up close. Furthermore, Manas National Park, located around 170 kilometers away on the Bhutan border, provides visitors with a truly unforgettable encounter with the natural world.

Not only that, about 30 kilometers from Rupsi lies Mahamaya Dham, a revered Shakti Peeth and a major center of local faith. In Dhubri town, the Gurudwara Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra, is also a popular site among both tourists and devotees. Thus, Rupsi’s geographical location and historical significance make it an attractive destination for travelers.
