Airports Authority of India (AAI), Chennai and Kalyanmayee, Chennai Airport in collaboration with Women in Aviation International (India Chapter) celebrated the ‘Girls in Aviation’ Day on 22.09.2017 at Chennai Airport.
As part of this programme all the important duty posts were also covered with women officers to motivate and instil confidence to the visiting students to take up the career in Aviation.
AAI, Chennai invited 20 girl students and 2 female teachers from Kendriya Vidayalaya, Meenambakkam, to explore, learn, and discover the various aspects of aviation and aerospace. Arrangements were also made for interaction of these students with other working women executives in different fields of Chennai Airport.
The girls were given a tour of the ATC Tower, Airside, Terminal Building and AOCC and all their queries and questions were answered by the officials working in the respective departments. A small presentation about airport and its intricacies was shown to the girls. Women from various section of aviation world shared their experience with the school kids. Also, an impromptu quiz competition added to the delight of the students who also won small tokens as prizes.
