Kishangarh Airport
There was a small airstrip located at Kishangarh in the historic city of Ajmer in Rajasthan. It was occasionally used by the state government, visitors and businessmen to operate charter planes/helicopters. Immense possibilities at this place such as Asia's largest marble center, world famous Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Pushkar pilgrimage, Jain temple, Kishangarh art style, cultivation of rose flowers and henna, Central University of Rajasthan, Mayo College, Dumping Yard, Khoda Ganesh Temple, Gundolav Lake, Phool Mahal Palace, Navagraha Temple and many more places. This place is regularly visited by tourists, marble traders, artists and academicians. Hence there was a demand by the public for a fully developed airport here and the Airports Authority of India has fully committed to the construction of a modern, self-sustainable, state-of-the-art, low-cost civil airport meeting international standards and this airport is in operation since October - 2017.
The MoU was signed in the year 2009 between the Government of Rajasthan and the Airports Authority of India with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The State Government has handed over approx. 733.7810 acres of land to AAI in a phased manner. Despite several constraints, practical and technical challenges, the construction activities are progressing steadily and regular flight operations of Q-400 / ATR-72 type aircraft are plying since October-2018.
