The main core functions of Department of CP&MS are preparation and review of Corporate Plan of AAI, Preparation, co-ordination and monitoring of annual performance contract i.e. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the administrative ministry, acting as AAI's nodal department for preparation and monitoring of MoCA‘s annual performance contract i.e. Result Framework Document (RFD) with Cabinet Secretariat.

The other functions of CP&MS is Collection, compilation, consolidation and dissemination of air traffic data in respect of Aircraft movements, Passengers and Cargo through publication of air traffic reports on monthly and yearly basis for all the operational airports in India. Updating of the air traffic data at frequent interval is very helpful in business decisions of Aviation Industry like capacity planning, upgradation/ modification of existing terminals at various airports, building new terminals/Airports, development of greenfield airports, cargo facilities and warehouses, maintenance of hangars, development of ground handling facilities, acquisition of new aircraft etc. Because of its strong and reliable airtraffic database, CP&MS department acts as a main source for air trafnc data to all National and International bodies/ organizations. The updated Air Traffic Reports are simultaneously uploaded on AAI website.

Preparation and review of short term, medium term and long term Traffic Forecast of all Indian airports is also one of main functions of CP&MS department.

Conducting periodic surveys such as International Benchmarking and Customer Satisfaction Survey by ACI-ASQ (Airport Service Quality) at 11 major airports and Customer Satisfaction Surveys at other 53 airports is also core functions of CP&MS department. Results of Customer Satisfaction Survey(CSS) and ACl-ASQ Survey are being uploading regularly on AAI website. In addition, conducting Capacity Measure Surveys at various airports terminals and Cargo terminals at the requirement of the management, Conducting Trach potential studies, Origin & Destination (OD) Surveys, Employees' Satisfaction Surveys are also the main functions of CP&MS department.

By constantly monitoring the air traffic statistics among the airports as well as benchmarking of airports through ASQ and customer satisfaction surveys, CP&MS department is constantly supporting the management in decision making through quantitative and qualitative approach.
