There was a small airstrip at Kishangarh in historic city Ajmer of Rajasthan. It was occasionally used for charter aircrafts/helicopters operation by state government, visitors and businessmen. Being a lot of potential of this place like - Biggest Marble hub in Asia, world fame Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Puskar Tirth, Jain Temple, Kishangarh art shailee, Farming of Rose flowers & Heena, Central University of Rajasthan, Mayo Collage, Dumping Yard, Khoda Ganesh Mandir, Gundolav Lake, Phool Mahal Palace, Navagrah Temple and many more. This place is regular visiting place for tourist, marble businessmen, artist & educationist. Therefore Public demand arises for a full fledged airport. Airports Authority of India is going to fulfill the commitment by constructing a modern, self sustainable, artistic low cost civil airport meeting International norms.
The MoU was signed between Govt of Rajasthan and Airports Authority of India with the approval of Ministry of Civil Aviation in the year 2009. The state government has handed over land of approx. 746 acres to AAI in phased manner. Inspite of many hindrances practical and technical challenges construction activities are in progress and Airport in all respect will be ready by May-June 2017. For Regular flight operation of ATR type of Aircrafts in Oct-2018.
