                                    NEWS BITSHigh-level intra-state meeting for progress of New Integrated Terminal Building at Imphal Airportth On 4 December, 2025 a high-level intra-state review meeting was convened to assess progress and finalise an action plan for the early completion of the Cargo Terminal and the New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) at Imphal Airport.The meeting held at Imphal airport was chaired by Shri Anurag Bajpai, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport and Trade, Commerce and Industries) and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Government of Manipur. Participants included the Airport Director of Imphal Airport, senior AAI officials, and representatives from the Public Works Department (PWD), among others.A comprehensive action plan was finalised to expedite the inauguration of the Cargo Terminal, fast-track the construction of the six-lane approach road from the National Highway to the NITB by the PWD and ensure the timely completion of all remaining NITB-related works, thereby facilitating enhanced airport infrastructure and passenger services. Dimapur Airport creates Hornbill Vibes; foreign dignitaries full of praiseThe Hornbill Festival of Nagaland has earned worldwide recognition. Observed every year during the first week of December, the festival is an initiative of the state government to revive and showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Naga tribes, attracting tourists from across India and abroad. The festival is held at Kisama Heritage Village, located approximately 12 kilometres from the state capital, Kohima.To evoke the spirit of the festival and keep Naga traditions alive, Dimapur Airport was tastefully decked in traditional motifs and d%u00e9cor, offering travellers the experience of stepping back in time. This distinctive transformation was widely noticed by passengers transiting through the airport, who expressed appreciation for the cleanliness, aesthetics, and cultural ambience maintained despite ongoing heavy construction work at Dimapur Airport.Ambassadors from the Republic of Malta, Ireland, France, and Switzerland, while expressing their happiness, observed that the airport had successfully recreated the ambience of a true heritage village through its art, craft, and traditional decorations.Anti-hijack preparedness meeting at Tezu Airportth On 26 December, 2025 Tezu Airport hosted a table-top meeting on anti-hijack preparedness. Chaired by the District Collector, Tezu, the meeting was attended by all stakeholders associated with the Aerodrome Committee.The discussions focused on clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder, detailing the actions required from all concerned during contingency situations and emphasising operational preparedness, inter-agency coordination and collective readiness among key stakeholders responsible for ensuring airport security and maintaining operational efficiency.16 AAIConnect ISSUE 50 | December 2025
