In a significant boost to Punjab's aviation infrastructure, the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated thestTerminalBuildingatHalwaraAirporton1 February, 2026, markingtheemergenceofanewcivilaviationgatewayforthestate.4 AAIConnect ISSUE 52 | February 2026From Inspiration to Infrastructure: New Halwara Terminal and Tribute to Guru Ravidas JiDeveloped at an approximate cost of ` 54.67 crore, the 2,000square metre terminal is designed to serve 300 passengersduring peak hours, with an annual capacity of two lakhpassengers. The facility includes an apron capable ofaccommodating one Code %u2018C%u2019 aircraft and allied operationalinfrastructure. Incorporating green features such as LEDlighting,insulated roofing, rainwater harvesting, and water treatmentsystems, the terminal reflects the Government%u2019s commitment tosustainable and energy-efficient development. Enhancedconnectivity is expected to significantly benefit Ludhiana,Punjab%u2019sindustrialhub,anditsvastMSMEsector.th On the occasion of the 649 Birth Anniversary ofGuruRavidas Ji,the Hon'ble Prime Minister also renamedAdampur Airport as Shri Guru Ravidass Maharaj JiAirport, Adampur paying tribute to the revered saint andsocial reformer whose message of equality, compassion,and human dignity continues to inspire generations.
