Applications are invited from the candidates who have registered their names
in any one of the Employment Exchanges located in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka,
Kerala and Tamilnadu and Union Territory of Lakshadweep and Pondicherry for the
post of Junior Assistant (Fire Service) at various domestic airports in the
above states in Southern Region in the pay scale of Rs.5500-140-7180-160-10060
plus allowances. Total number of posts likely to be filled is 59 and the
reservations are SC – 3, ST – 9 and UR – 47. The eligibility criteria for the
post are as follows :-
1)Age
: 18 to 30 years as on
1.7.2006
Relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/Ex-servicemen as per Govt. rules.
2)Educational :
i) Should have passed 10 + 2 or equivalent
qualification

Should possess valid heavy duty vehicle driving

: Physique : Good
*Min. height – 167 cms.
*Min. weight – 55 Kgs.
Chest : Normal before expansion – 81 cms.

– 5 cms.
*Relaxation of 3 cms in height and chest measurement and proportionate
relaxation in weight will be allowed to hilly area candidates on production of
bonafide certificates. However, minimum chest expansion must be 5 cms. No other
relaxation will be allowed to any other category.
EYE SIGHT :
Distant vision – 6/6 with each eye without glasses
Near vision – N-5 with each eye without glasses
(Visual evaluation is for each eye individually)
Color vision – Should be normal as determined by Ischihara’s charts
Night blindness – Absent
Field of vision – Each eye should have full field of vision as determined by
confrontation test
Hearing – Normal
Speech – Normal
Refractive error – No refractive error is acceptable
Disqualification – Knocking knees, bow legs, degree of squint, flat footed,
physical deformity, suffering from chronic disease, any major operation by
virtue of which his physical fitness to work in Fire Service has been impaired
will be considered as disqualification
4)Selection
process :
Recruitment will be done through physical measurements, written test, driving
test, physical endurance test and interview
5)Training :
Officials of Fire Department will impart training. During training period,
candidates will be given training of CFTs. The candidates who do not qualify
the CFT test will not be appointed.
Candidates fulfilling the above conditions may submit their
application in the following format addressed to the Regional Executive
Director, Airports Authority of India, Southern Region, Chennai Airport,
Chennai – 600 027 alongwith a Demand Draft for Rs.100/- (Rupees one hundred
only) (Non-refundable) drawn in favour of the Airports Authority of India
payable at Chennai so as to reach not later than 30.06.2006, 5 PM. SC /
ST candidates are exempted from payment of fee.

The application should accompany the following documents :
(1) Demand Draft for Rs.100/- as explained above (2) Photo copy of
certificates regarding educational qualification / date of birth (3) Photo copy
of HMV licence (4) Xerox copy of certificates for proof of SC / ST / OBC in the
prescribed format (5) Photo copy of Employment Exchange Registration slip (6) 2
copies of recent passport size photographs (One pasted on application duly
signed on the front and the other stapled to the application signed at the
backside).
The applications received after the due date will not be
entertained.
