Mahatma Gandhi is revered in India and also the world over. Not just has his life been a teaching but he, himself, inspired a whole nation and continues to do so even today. On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, commemorations abound across the world. Airports Authority of India, as the mainstay of civil aviation in India also remembers the Mahatma.

AAI, in collaboration with Gandhi Smriti and DarshanSamiti, started celebrating the glorious life and times of the ‘Father of the Nation’ from October 2018 and will continue promoting his values, principle, thoughts and life teachings for another year. The impact that the Mahatma had on India warrants a grand celebration. At last, Gandhiji’s ideas continue to inspire and improve the world more than any other human being.

We often talk about Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings. But unfortunately, the vision that Gandhiji had for India and its people living across cities and innumerable towns and village has got confined to academicdeliberations and intellectual discourses only. There is a need and an urgency to communicatehis ideas and philosophy, not just regarding the struggle for India’s freedom from the British but alsorelated to education, environment, sustainability, social issues, harmony, self-reliance, Gram Swarajandunity in diversity etc. to the common people.

Major AAI airports like Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Chennai and Kolkata have set up interactive GandhiGalleries at designated spots inside the airports. These galleries act as a single point forexploring and understanding in depth the philosophy and vision of MahatmaGandhi. The idea is to connect people from all walks of life, age groups andgender to have an access to the interesting and engaging means of familiarisingand connecting with the life and times of the Mahatma.
