"To meet the demand of increasing air travel in Allahabad, Allahabad Airport is being upgraded and a new civil terminal is being built by Airports Authority of India, adjacent to the existing Central Air Command Air force base, Allahabad. The work will be completed before the city hosts Ardh Kumbh Mela in January 2019. This is by far the tightest deadline to be accepted by the Authority; the construction is to be completed within 16 months. The site measures approximately 82.66 acres located south of the present airfield civil enclave. The new civil enclave will include a new terminal building (9000 square metres) with peak hour capacity of 700 passengers, an apron to park civil schedule flights, link taxi track and car parks with capacity of 200 cars/taxis. The cost of construction of the new civil terminal airport is Rs. 1.27 Billion. "
