In the heart of Himachal Pradesh a land blessed by Devta’s with an abundance of natural beauty and wealth surrounded by picturesque mountain all around, Kullu Manali Airport is situated at Bhuntar at a distance of 50 kms from the world famous tourist destination of Manali. Kullu has emerged as the hub of activities related to tourism, Hydel power generation, floriculture and as Apple Basket of the region. The Kullu shawls are famous all over the world. In order to capitalize progress in the region on all fronts, as well as to make travelling more convenient, AAI had envisaged the development of an Airport with modern amenities for the benefit of the region. The vision has been realized since then and a new terminal building has been added to the existing civil aviation facilities in Kullu Manali.
The new terminal building was constructed with a cost of Rs.10.47 crores, is equipped with most modern facilities like conveyor belts, Fire detection and automated firefighting system, physically handicapped toilets, modern ticketing counters, check in counter, advance PA system with equal finishes like vitrified tiles/granite flooring, polyurethane paints and glass facades. The building has provision for modular expansion in both directions. The building is directly connected to NH-21. The far sighted and futuristic step of AAI will, in near future, augur well for the entire region. For AAI, it’s like adding wings not only to the entire regions civil aviation but also to it’s dream of progress on the economic front.
