  • The Cargo Terminal at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, was established on 1977 for processing of import, export transhipment cargo and unaccompanied baggage.
  • AAI and Air India are the Agencies managing the Cargo handling operations  on parallel run basis on behalf of about 40 operating airlines besides an approved custodian of import/export cargo under Customs Act, 1962.
  • Spread in an area of 1,08,684.11 sq. mtrs. A total area of 6000 sq. mtrs. has been allotted to Air India for handling of Import / Export Cargo. It is the first semi-mechanized Terminal in India, to have one Elevating Transfer Vehicles (ETV) with 02 level stacker positions (218 nos.) for storage and retrieval of ready-built Unit Load Device (ULDs). A separate area of 6,334 Sq. mtrs. called FACT building is used by 11 airlines for unitisation of Export Cargo. In module 1 comprising a total area of 9353 sq. mtrs, processing of Export general and perishable cargo clearance is done. Storage & processing of light import cargo and heavy import cargo is taking place in Module II (area 7290 sq. mtrs) and light and heavy import cargo and in module III (area 8477 sq. mtrs.) by AI.
  • A state of art Centre for perishable Cargo for flowers, fruits, vegetables and meat products has been commissioned in 2003.
  • Five wide-bodied aircrafts can be parked simultaneously in an exclusive Cargo Apron.
  • Cargo Terminal provides all range of services & facilities, under one roof, at par with any international airport.

    Cargo could be cleared either by self or by a licensed Customs House Clearing Agent.
  • No demurrage charges are leviable on Cargo if cleared within prescribed free period.
  • Simplified procedure and availability of all concerned agencies at one place in unaccompanied baggage area.
